THE BLACK BOOK ONLINE API IS HERE!
Add our content to your site or app -- for free! (BETA)
HOW IT WORKS:
Your site or app has information on people, businesses or addresses. You can now show free public record lookup links at your site with our API.
WHAT IS THE BLACK BOOK ONLINE CONTENT?
Black Book Online is one of the top free public record search sites on the Internet. We've been collecting and maintaining free public record links since 1998 and currently have over 34,000. However, just having a large group of links to free public record lookups isn't enough! Links frequently change and get broken when government agencies make changes to their websites. Our links reside within an ecosystem of avid users who run over a million free lookups per month at our site. When a link gets broken, they report it and our research staff repairs it promptly. So we don't just offer links -- we offer links coming from an ecosystem that keeps them current and up to date. This means fresh, up to date content for your site that won't disappoint your users and you don't have to worry about maintaining.
Our API offers a lite version of the full website, featuring the most popular search requests.
Use the API to request free public record links by location (state or county/state or city/state) and the type wanted: criminal court, sex offenders, civil court, property ownership or corporations. You can also do combinations of record types. For example, both criminal court and sex offenders in the same request.
Our free API key is good for 250 API requests per day. If you need more than that, just send us a request to have your limit raised. We'll take a quick look at your site to make sure its within API use guidelines, then raise your limit. There's no charge for a higher limit. By default there's a speed limit of 5 requests per second, but this can be raised too if required.
Our API is a RESTful web service. Some programming experience is required to implement it.
To get started, we recommend you review our technical documentation and the API terms and conditions then request a free API key. After you have your key, you can run test searches at our code playground to see sample requests and responses. You'll then be ready to add it to your site!
