Acquired Banking Institutions	From the Federal Reserve System, this is a database with information on banks that have been acquired or otherwise have undergone a name change.
Active Duty Military	From the Department of Defense's Manpower Data Center. With a SSN and last name, anyone...repeat ANYONE...can verify whether or not a person is on active military duty! The search has been made available so that banks and others can comply with the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act of 2003 that provides a number of (much deserved) rights to our military personnel. Examples of these rights include delays in court proceedings, restrictions on evictions and more. NEW! Bankruptcies HOT!	Free bankruptcy searches are back on the Internet! The data appears to come from the PACER system and is offered by Jupiter eSources, LLC. Limited information is returned on hits; but further details like docket sheets can be purchased for a small additional fee. For a list of bankruptcy courts included in PACER, click this link and scroll down to the bankruptcy courts section. Data appears to go back roughly ten years in most jurisdictions, but this can vary from area to area. Great resource!
Central Contractor Registration	Registration site for companies looking to do business with various federal agencies.
Civil Rights Litigation Clearinghouse	Privately compiled database from the Washington University Law School.
Commodity Brokers	Check the background of a commodities broker as per National Futures Association records.
NEW! Credit Unions	Detailed data on credit unions from the National Credit Union Administration.
DEA Registrations	Search parties that are registered to handle controlled substances including physicians and related practitioners, dentists, veterinarians, persons conducting business with controlled substances, importers/exporters, manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies. Courtesy KnowX.
Deadbeat Docs	These doctors defaulted on their student loans and have been barred by the Department of Health and Human Services from Medicare and other programs.
Do Not Call Registry	Check to see if a phone number has been entered in the federal Do Not Call registry. If the number has been registered, you will be emailed the date of registration.
Employer Sanctions Database	Interesting new database of American businesses who have been fined by the Immigration and Naturalization Service for hiring illegal aliens. The information was obtained through Freedom of Information Act requests.

FDA Warning Letters	Little known website features warning letters sent out by the Food and Drug Administration on a range of regulatory items from mammography devices to food handling. Good source to check when doing a background check on a firm associated with medical devices.
FDIC Banks Database	Obtain extensive financial, ownership, and other information on banking institutions. You'll need a frames enabled browser to use it.
Federal Lobbyists	Learn who's registered to lobby the federal government and who their clients are.
FTC Registered Identification Number Lookup	Textile, wool and fur products are required to have labels with the clothing company's name OR an FTC registration number. This is the database where you can enter the registration numbers to find the company.
Government Search Engine	Firstgov, the federal government's mega-portal, has unveiled a nifty search engine that indexes federal and state websites. Need to locate hard to find government information or agencies? Try here first.
Ham Radio Licenses	Database of persons holding Ham radio licenses. Searchable by licensee name or call sign. If a hit is returned, you'll get an address and a DOB. Alternative source here.
HUD Refunds	Database of persons due a refund from the Department of Housing and Urban Development from its mortgage insurance program.
Intellectual Property Rights Search	From the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, this is an online database of Intellectual Property Recordations. Appears to be database for determining whether or not imports are in violation of a trademark or copyright.
List of Parties Excluded From Federal Procurement and Nonprocurement Programs	Individuals, businesses, and organizations who have been barred from doing business with the U.S. government for some type of misconduct.
MEDICARE Nursing Home Compare	View nursing home inspection data and more.
NASD Brokers	Powerful source of background information on NASD (National Association of Securities Dealers) Brokers and Firms. Information available on Brokers includes a 10 year employment history, criminal convictions, disciplinary actions, and more.
National Sex Offender Public Registry	National sex offender registry from the U.S. Department of Justice hits the public websites of all 50 states! Search by individual state, region or nationwide. Hot resource!
OSHA Establishment Inspections	Enter the name of a business to determine if OSHA has inspected it. For accident investigations, try here.
Patents	Searchable database of U.S. Patent Office filings.
SEC Filings	Securities& Exchange Commission's EDGAR database of filings by publicly traded corporations.
Selective Service Registration Verification	Selective Service System's online registration verification look-up. Male U.S. Citizens between the ages of 18 and 25 are required to register for the draft with the SSS. By entering the registrant's name, social security number and date of birth, Selective Service registration can be verified. A good way to verify that SSN, DOB and name all match up.
SSA Death Master File	Social Security Administration's master file of deaths; searchable by name and/or social security number. A death claim must have been filed on the decedent to make it into this database.
Supreme Court Dockets	Search Supreme Court of the United States records for cases past and present.
Trademarks	Search registered, pending and dead trademarks on the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. This search was a fee-based search for a long time -- finally it's available for free on the Web!
Treasury Bonds - Unclaimed	Search for unclaimed, matured Treasury bonds by owner SSN. The data does not include lost or stolen bonds.
Tribal Court Decisions	Independently compiled index of court opinions from 21 tribal courts. Currently includes 2,432 opinions.
U.S. Department of Transportation SAFER Database	Database contains a wealth of information on commercial interstate carriers. In other words, long haul truckers. Searchable by firm name, DOT Number or Motor Carrier number. Ever notice the D.O.T. number stenciled on the cab of a tractor trailer? Enter it into this database to learn the truck's owner, insurance carrier, and crashes in the last 24 months.
U.S. Court of Federal Claims	Browsable index of published decisions of the United States Court of Federal Claims for cases since 1997. This special court handles claims against the United States government.
U.S. Tax Court	Search U.S. Tax Court indices going back to 1986. Persons involved in litigation with the IRS may be found here. If a case is found, the actual court file may contain tax returns or other important financial information. This is a significant information source that is now available and should be of interest to all investigators who conduct financial investigations!
