5. SECRET FEATURES:

> Enter a phone number, click search, and it will automatically run through our phone validator database to tell you if it is a landline or cell phone. The results will also include links to run the number through directory assistance and Google. You may format this request as either 212-555-3456 or 2125553456.

> Enter a social security number, click search, and it will automatically run through our SSN validator database to determine if it is a real SSN or not. You may format this request as either 999-99-9999 or 99999999.

> Determine what county a city is located in by typing this exact search criteria in the search box and clicking search:

findcounty:dallas,tx

> By default, our search engine also converts cities to counties in the background. For example, if you entered the following search:

phoenix, az criminal

Our system would deterrmine that Maricopa county is the county where Phoenix is located. It would then bring back hits for the Maricopa county in addition to any in Phoenix!

Please note that for this feature to work, a state must be included in your search string. For example, "phoenix criminal" will not trigger the feature, but "phoenix, az criminal" will because the state was included.

> Our search engine makes plural/non-plural search terms interchangeable. Examples:

court = courts

inmates = inmate

> Our search engine makes spelling out full state names unnecessary by recognizing standard postal abbreviations. Examples:

california = ca

ny = new york

However, there are two exceptions to this. Indiana and Oregon must be spelled out completely. Their postal abbreviations cannot be used. Notice that the postal abbreviations for these states are also commonly used words?

> When searching for federal government records, you may use any of these terms:

Federal

Fed

U.S.

U.S.A.

US

> Our search logic is designed to detect when a person's name is run at our site and a special message is posted to the user that the purpose of Black Book Online is not for searching on names. You can test his by running any common name in the search box!

6. SORTING LOGIC:

When a search is run at our site, the results are sorted in this priority:

  • Federal Records sorted alphabetically by search name, then...
  • Statewide Records sorted alphabetically by state name and sub-sorted by search name....
  • City/County Records sorted alphabetically by county or city names.
